2016 Grand Vin Rouge
Features tremendous depth of flavor in the mid-palate and finish with a bright crimson color. Wine develops rich berry and oak flavors revealing touches of licorice and firm tannins. The aging in new French barrels brings out the earthy and oak tones allowing for a classic Bordeaux-style finish.
2016 Petit Vin Rouge
Red and black cherry fruit dominate the nose with supporting savory vanilla pastry tones. A plush smooth entry leads to supple mid palate with supportive tannins that will allow this wine to age 10 years or more.
2015 Merlot
Renowned for its exquisite natural environment, the Havens’ Family Estate hillside vineyards, with its spectacular terroir, pristine soil and ideal California climate, produce the finest Merlot grapes. The hallmark of the Havens’ Merlot grapes is the manner in which they are gently manicured and carefully hand selected, which ensures the elegance and balance that characterizes their wine. Château Cal-a-Vie Merlot, using 100% Merlot grapes which have been aged twenty four months in new French oak barrels, creates a dramatic, yet classic Merlot highlighted by rich cherry aromas and Bordeaux style bouquet and finish.
2020 Cabernet Sauvignon
Full spectrum of red, blue and black berry fruit and cassis with a mix of sage, lavender. The complex bouquet gives way to a silky ‘entre en bouche’ with tannins that balance the pastry and cassis notes apparent on the mid palate and for several minutes on the back palate. The tannins are developing and will be more and more velvety as this wine ages.
2018 Sauvignon Blanc
Picked at its aromatic ripeness having notes of white peach, gooseberry and a hint of jalapeno, we aged the wine in barrel on lees for a full savory multilayered mouthfeel. Our Havens’ Family Estate, Chateau Cal-a-Vie Sauvignon Blanc epitomizes the convergence of old world Sur Lies elegance and a delicate modern balance.
2021 Rose
The 2021 Cal-a-Vie Rosé is specifically selected from one of our cooler situated blocks of Merlot grapes, allowing us to produce a wine with great natural acidity while still obtaining aromatic ripeness. Our rosé leans to the dry side, shows notes of mandarin and sherbet with great minerality. It finishes smoothly with a lingering note of tamarind and jolly ranchers.
